We were driving through and we didn't want to eat at the spot with the barrel so we came here. We tried the biscuit stack and the Goetta. Both were delicious. The prices on the menu were great! Our server was friendly. Definitely eat here!
I went to the Colerain Red Squirrel many times as a kid. First time at the Harrison location, and the only thing I’m upset about is that I waited this long to try the Harrison Red Squirrel. I’d give 100 stars if I could. My kids were so happy about their meal they asked if we could come back tomorrow lol
If you are traveling I-75 at Cincinnati, get on 275 by-pass, find Harrison Indiana and visit The Red Squirrel. The place is fantastic (though they make a northern style od chicken and dumplings). It is going to be a regular stop from now on!
The Red Squirrel was a classic greasy-spoon diner-type spot. My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here. I got the gravy stacker, which had a flavorful sausage gravy that wasn't packed with sausage, but still offered a great sausage flavor. I think the best part of this dish was the fried potatoes. They were abundant and crispy without being too greasy. My husband ordered a Western omelette and he raved about the eggs quantity and the way it married with the cheese. Overall, this was a typical diner-style breakfast. Food-wise, everything was great, but not wildly unique. Service-wise, this spot stood out. The servers were enthusiastic, kind and quick to help when they could. I would come back for the quality of service alone.
Is there anyway I can give more than five stars? Because this place is a real gem! The meat lovers omelette is a true show stopper. Fluffy eggs, delicious home fries, and perfect toast. The delicious food alone is reason enough to make this your only go-to spot in Harrison… but wait there’s more! The atmosphere truly adds to your experience. Clean, well decorated, and a genuinely friendly staff makes for an all around 5 star experience. You can tell that the staff is really what sets this restaurant apart from all others - the food is made with care and they sincerely care about your dining experience. Give the Red Squirrel a try and you will not be disappointed!
Very friendly astomphere. I noticed great teamwork between coworkers. (The first time i went, i noticed a lil differently, seemed there may had been some animosity or something between a server and a younger server-which i almost didn't come back because of that.) This time seemed to flow much better. Staff was happy. Which made for great food and great service. Not to mention I got my order within 10 min!! Cant wait to go back!!
Definitely glad to see this place open after fairfield closed years ago. #25 Tuna with sliced egg is good as I remember. The omelet was good however the eggs are a little different, I suspect they are made with liquid egg beaters or something of that nature. Definitely coming back.
Newly opened and we are already OBSESSED! My teen girl can’t get enough, she thinks they have the best fries. Super friendly staff, quick service. It is tucked into a little shopping plaza, it was hard to find at first bc there was no signage, but I am sure it coming since it just opened. The only negative to it is the restaurant hours, we have never been able to take my husband or other kids because they are only open for breakfast and lunch, no dinner hours (as of now).
